We are very busy in DNS preparing for Confirmation. Children in 5th and 6th class will receive the sacrament of confirmation on Wednesday March 3rd. We hope they enjoy their day. This is the seating plan for the church.

Centenary Celebrations

David Swift visited the school on Wednesday the 13th of January as part of our school celebrations. He brought a huge collection of items related to 1916. He gave a talk about the 1916 rising and in particular the links with Galway. The children got to hold and examine many of the items and were particularly impressed when they got to hold a ‘Howth Mauser’ gun.

A Bandaleer: used to carry bullets

Uniforms from the Irish Volunteers and Irish Citizen Army

This bag would have held food, water, extra bullets, extra socks and a compass.

A slouch cap also known as a Cronje

First Holy Communion 2015.

Congratulations to all the pupils in 2nd class who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday 9th  of May. The children were a credit to their parents and Mrs. O’Neill in the way they were presented and in how they participated in the ceremony.  Thanks to Fr. Pat O’ Brien for the meaningful ceremony. Thanks to the school choir who sang beautifully during the ceremony and Evelyn Newell who played the organ.  They played a huge part in making the day most enjoyable. The Parents Association would like to thank the parents and volunteers who hosted a party for the relatives and children of First Holy Communion. Everybody was made feel most welcome and a great time was had by all. There was a wonderful atmosphere present on the day.  The goodwill shown on the day is a massive asset to our school community. Sincere thanks to all.

Book Fair

During book fair week, we had a visit from an author. Mary Arrigan visited all classes on Monday 20th of April. She read some of her books and gave the children tips on how to become a writer. The children really enjoyed her visit and many bought her books at the book fair.
